Shop Around

In 2014 I entered a competition to write a Christmas story for adults of no more than 3,000 words.

I manged this – it’s a strange, dark story about a magic shop with the usual obsessions.

It was 2,960 words , in total (approximately)!

I knew it would win.

It didn’t win.

Not only that; all entries were not returned. So, I forgot about it, It was written on my old computer anyway, so there was little chance of it reappearing.

Anyway, I remembered the title, Shop Around; so, just for the sake of it, about a month ago, I put Shop Around into the search button of my computer.... and it found it in about 20 seconds!

I must have transferred it without realising when I imported all my old Word documents to my new hard drive.

So, there it was! I re-read it and thought it was okay: but it was only 2,960 words; a bit small for a book.

I didn’t want adults feeling short-changed; because you have to agree to a basic price to self-publish on Amazon, just to make it available.

Then I realised that in all the books I hadn’t published there were some promising anecdotes about buying guitars in Nottingham in the early 1970’s, based on fact. My fact. Max Factor.

So I put together another 3,000 words entitled:  Shopping Around for guitars in 1970’s Nottingham

Thematically it balanced the Christmas story quite well. So if one made you sad, or made you ask,

“How deep is the ocean?” then you had the other one to cheer you up.

That’s all you need to know really.

It's been a long cold, lonely winter; of course, but, now it's ready!

Just click on the link above! It's avaialble in Kindle and as a paperback.

Here's Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, too!

About Me

I was born in 1859 but frozen in ice in 1882 by my enemy, the Big Figure. Luckily, I was revived in 1997 by reversing the polarity of the flux capacitor. I look pretty young but I'm just backdated.
